While songwriters are usually aware of public performance rights collectives, they often do not know that it is often a part time job to keep the rights collectives up to date with all of the songwriter's activities in order to maximize the income generated from public performance royalties.

Public performance royalties are just the tip of the iceberg of income streams generated by the creation performance and use of music. There are actually a host of other income sources that are not just for songwriters but also for sound recording owners, performers and more.
